Obituary
VERNON “PAUL” CROCKETT, 82, of
Barboursville, W.Va., formerly of Wayne County, W.Va., took his precious
wife’s hand and God’s hand and crossed over into eternity at his daughter
Paula’s home surrounded by his loving family on February 28, 2017. Paul was
very much loved by his family and everyone that truly knew him. He was a
loyal, kind soul. He was always looking out for those that he felt could not
take care of themselves, even to the point of self-sacrifice at times.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017, at
the Huntington Christian Church by Preacher Jeff Wickert. Burial will follow
at Spring Valley Memory Gardens. American Legion Post 93 of Kenova will
perform graveside military rites. He was preceded in death by his parents
William Crockett and Laura Dean Crockett. Also brothers;
Herman, Bill, Allen, and Charlie, and sisters; Virginia, Nola, Gladys and
Maymie. His surviving sister is Naomi Davis of Ashland, Ky. He was also
preceded in death by a son; Gary Lee Tate, which he had formed a special
bond with during Gary’s final days here on earth. Lastly he was preceded by
the love of his life, Beatrice Helen Radcliff Crockett. After the loss of
his precious Bea he was never the same even though her loss brought him to
know the Lord as his savior and he started going to church and was baptized
into the family of God at Huntington Christian Church in Westmoreland on
October 15, 2014. He was a faithful member and loved the church and
fellowship there. He is survived by a son; Carl (Janice) Tate Sr., and
grandchildren Carl Jr and Angela Warner ,great grand children Amber,
Devin, and Jordan from Missouri. Son; John Tate of Michigan, a daughter;
Paula (Grant) Johnson of Huntington, W.Va., grandchildren; granddaughter
Jamie (Brian) Spencer and great grandson; Brody, granddaughter; Michelle
Wilcox, great grandchildren; Tanner, Logan and Madison Wilcox of Lavalette.
Granddaughter; Melissa (Jeff) Morin, great grandchildren; Brittany Cyrus,
Kaylee, Felicity, Maranda and Logan Marin of Ashland, Ky. Daughter; Brenda
Brown of Barboursville, W.Va., grandchildren Amy of Brooklyn, N.Y., Zack of
Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dylan of Pittsburgh, Pa. Son; Vernon Crockett
Jr. of Huntington, W.Va., grandchildren Jessica (Travis) Bragg of Atlanta,
Ga., and Sarah Bates of Huntington, W.Va., great- grandchildren Madison
Abigail and Emerson Bragg of Atlanta, Ga. and son; James Crockett of Kenova,
W.Va., grandson; Jimmy Crockett, granddaughter Deidra Crocket and her
significant other Marcus Dajuan Fails and great-grandson; Maximus Fails and
daughter Pamela Skiles of Grayson, Ky. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on
Thursday March 2, 2017, at the Reger Funeral Home.
