ObituaryMrs. Lidia Moretti, beloved spouse of the late Italian/American Glass Maestro, Alessandro Moretti, both formerly of Huntington, WV passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017 at the Lifecare Center of Citrus County Nursing Home in Lecanto, Florida after a long illness at the age of 92. Lidia was born October 16, 1924 in Genoa, Ital. After the ravages of WWII Europe destroyed her Genovese homeland, Lidia emigrated to Johannesburg, South Africa with her mother, Emilia, Step-father, Armando, and sister, Tamara. There in this new continent, she met and married, her husband, noted Italian/American Glass maestro, Alessandro Moretti, who likewise had left his birthplace in Murano, Italy to find a new life. They married in 1955 and then in June of 1956, they emigrated from South Africa to their beloved Huntington,WV, where they resided for 42 years , and where two of their children, Yvonne and Albert, were born. Alessandro was employed by the Pilgrim Glass Company, located in Kenova, WV, along with his brother the late Roberto Moretti, and brother-in-law, the late Mario Sandon. Lidia was a loving wife and mother and maintained a sense of resolve in spite of her very long illness. She especially loved her children, her people, and friends in West Virginia, her family abroad; and was loved and cherished by all who knew her. She will be sorely missed. Lidia is survived by her children, Albert and Yvonne Moretti, her niece and nephew in South Africa, Lidia Fernandez and Romano Volker, and their extended family; Venetian relatives, Frank, Daria, Viola, Francesca Moretti and son; her beloved sister-in-law, Giulia Moretti [spouse to her late brother-in-law, Roberto Moretti]; cherished nieces, Sandra, Laura, Giulia Spurlock, Gabriella and Francesca Guidobono, Frank and the late Lisa Guidobono of Hilton Head, SC; her late sister and brother-in-law, Onelia and Mario Sandon; nieces Liviana and Gloria and family. Deceased family members include her parents, Vicenzo and Emilia Villa; and her late sister, Tamara Villa Volker. Reger Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, which are incomplete.
