Bennie Cecil Ashworth Sr.
(November 23, 1935 - August 1, 2014)



Bennie Cecil Ashworth Jr., 78, of Milton, passed away Friday, August 1, 2014 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born November 23, 1935 in Cabell County, a son of the late Bennie and Opal Jenkins Ashworth. He is also preceded in death by his wife Geraldine Powers Ashworth. He is survived by three daughters, Cathi Mount, Kelly Shaw (Loren), and Keisha Dunn (Troy); one son, David Ashworth (Karen); one brother, Billy Cooper (Geri); four grandchildren, Jerod Mount (Laura), Jacob Mount (Tara), Jenna Mount and Levi Ashworth; two great-grandchildren, Walker Mount and Wyatt Mount; special nephew, Dwayne Cooper; and two very special friends, Gary Sargent and Christine Cooper. He retired from Dougherty Company Mechanical Contractors as a Sheet Metal Superintendent after 45 years of service. He was a member of the Lebanon Lodge #68 of Milton, the Eastern Star #149, the Guyandotte Chapter #10 R.A.M., the Huntington Commandery #9, the Huntington Scottish Rite, the Beni Kedem Temple, the Huntington Shrine Club, Honorary member Kentucky Colonels and the Charles W. Wise York Rite College. He was also past President of the Faithful Forty Club and the KCCH in Huntington. Served as past Deacon of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church where he was a faithful member. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, August 3, 2014 at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Mark Hesson and Pastor Chelcie Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton with Masonic services. Friends may visit from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital, Lexington, KY or Speech Language Disorder of Marshall University, Huntington.
