DULCIE FRANCES CARTER MORRIS
(January 8, 1922 - May 26, 2014)

DULCIE FRANCES CARTER MORRIS, 92, of Milton, joyfully greeted loved ones in heaven on May 24, 2014, after a brief illness. "Duck" was born in Milton on January 8, 1922, to Reverend Walter Carl Carter and Lillie Dale Dingess. A member of Zoar Baptist Church and graduate of Milton High School, Duck enlisted in the Navy during World War II. In 1943, she completed Naval Training School on the Hunter College campus in Bronx, New York, and at Oklahoma A and M College in Stillwater, Oklahoma, continuing to serve as Yeoman Third Class at the Bureau of Yards and Docks in Washington, D.C., until 1946. Duck returned home to Milton and married Oza Everett Morris on November 15, 1947. Caring for their family left little time for hobbies. As a homemaker, Duck enjoyed sewing and regularly baked the tastiest cornbread in Cabell County to the delight of family and friends. She was also a former member of the American Legion Milton Post 139. Duck is survived by daughter, Tammy (Randy) Clark; son, Timothy (Tracie) Morris; grandchildren, Joshua (Tiana) Clark, Joseph (Kimberly) Clark, Hannah Clark, Ian (Megan) Morris and Andrea Morris; great-grandchildren, Maddox, Emma and Devin; brothers, Bruce (Sallie) Carter, Michael Carter; sisters, Phyllis Chavez, Gloria (Oliver) Woodd, and Betty Hendricks. She is predeceased by her parents; beloved husband, Everett; son, Alan "Bub" and siblings John, Charles, Jim, Sanford, Broaddus, Ford, Walt, Anna Ruth, Sam, Vivian, Ross, Grace and Paul. Visitation is scheduled Tuesday, May 27, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wallace Funeral Home, Milton. Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by interment with military honors at Forest Memorial Park.
