ObituaryVivian Joyce Shelton Graham VIVIAN JOYCE SHELTON GRAHAM, 68, of
Hurricane, West Virginia, went to Heaven on August 14, 2017. During her
courageous battle with cancer, Joyce and family were cared for and comforted
by Dr. Timothy DeEulis, the wonderful staff at St. Mary's Hospital Oncology
floor, and Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Joyce was born on October 6,
1948, in West Hamlin, W.Va., to the late Clifford and Nona Covey Shelton.
Joyce graduated as valedictorian of her class in 1966 from Guyan Valley High
School. She graduated from Marshall University Magna Cum Laude and then
earned her Master of Arts + 15 in Library Science. On October 22, 1971, she
married the love of her life, Danny, who never left her side. She was a
librarian at Hurricane Middle School until starting her family. Joyce was
also an active member of the Church in the Valley in Milton, West Virginia,
where she started the church's first library with her friend, Jean Simmons.
She was an AWANA leader and faithful member of the Church in the Valley
choir, where she sang many solos. Joyce is survived by her loving husband of
almost 46 years, Danny Graham, and two daughters and their spouses, Tiffany
and Chris Showalter, and Amy and Jerry Black, both couples from Atlanta,
Georgia. She also leaves behind her two most precious treasures, her
granddaughters, Lily Grace and Madelyn Rose Showalter. She will be missed by
her numerous family members, friends, church family as well as her beloved
neighbors who were more like family. Joyce loved reading, singing, cheering
for the WVU Mountaineers and telling anyone who would listen about the
antics of her granddaughters. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.
