Geraldine “Gerri” Angus, 96, of Milton, WV passed away on July 14, 2017 at Seacoast McLeod Hospital in Little River, SC. For the past five and one-half years she lived in an assisted living/memory care center near her daughter Cheryl Angus Moore. She was born on May 30, 1921, the daughter of the late Thomas H. Jordan and Bertha Harshbarger Jordan. Gerri was a member of Milton United Methodist Church, and she was honored as the longest living member of the church when she was 90 years old. She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Leroy Angus, her son William Leroy Angus, a brother Harley Jordan, and sisters Mildred Wanack, Gilda Urias, Betty Perry, and step-great-grandson Hobie Cartrette. Gerri was dearly loved as a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and Ma-Maw. Many remember her as a volunteer with Cub Scouts, 4-H, Vacation Bible School, and school functions. She was a member of Milton Women’s Club, Pythian Sisters 108, and American Legion Auxiliary Post 139. Gerri is survived by her daughter Cheryl Angus Moore and husband Dan W. Moore of Calabash, NC. She has nine grandchildren, Stephanie Blake Stanley (Chris) of Raleigh, NC, Shellie Blake Behling (Jimmy) of Lexington, SC, Larry J. Blake (Allison) of Fayetteville, AR, Shawn Angus Morgan (Tim) of Bridgeport, WV, Shannon Angus Rudy (Shawn) of Grafton, WV, Rob Angus (Michelle) of Grafton, WV, Nathan J. Moore (Allison) of Chadbourn, NC, and two step-grandchildren Beth Moore McKenna (Matt) of Centerville, OH, and Kim Moore Spivey (Frank) of Wilmington, NC. Her eighteen great-grandchildren are Meghan and Joshua Stanley, Hunter, Tanner, and Jordan Behling, Lawson, Caroline, Walker, and Macey Blake, McArthur Moore, Luke and Rachel Morgan, Zack, Skyler, and Tayler Rudy, Alec, Kylie, and Will Angus. Her seven step-great-grandchildren are Maggie McKenna Allred (Jon), Maura, Benjamin, Brigid, Andrew, and Janie McKenna, Brooke Cartrette Rowe (Shane) and one step-great, great-grandson Paxton Rowe. Gerri’s sisters-in-law are Dorothy Angus Riggs of Sandyville, WV, Barbara Angus Wallace of Milton, WV, Helen Angus Dillon of Ripley WV, and brother-in-law Seldon Angus of Sandyville, WV. She has a number of nieces and nephews who lovingly called her Aunt Gerri. Funeral services will be at Wallace Funeral Home in Milton, WV on July 22, 2017 at 1 PM. A committal service will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Barboursville, WV. Visitation will be at Wallace Funeral Home for one hour prior to the one o’clock service.
