Hobart Adkins
(August 6, 1927 - September 20, 2015)



Hobart Adkins, 88, of Barboursville, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at Cabell-Hospital Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday September 24, 2015 at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Carl Merritt. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born August 6, 1927, in Cabell County, the son of the late Lloyd and Lessie Pettry Adkins. He was Christian by faith. He was a veteran with the United States Navy having served during World War II and was a retired Teamster having worked for Case Driveway. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris June Nash Adkins; one son, Charles Brian Adkins; one great-grandson, Jacob Wyatt Williams; his brother, Newman Adkins; and sister, Mildred Morrison. He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Delbert Artrip of Ona, WV; two sons and daughter-in-law, Hobart Alan and Mary Ann Adkins and Stanley Owen Adkins, all of Ona, WV. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law, Bobbie Adkins of Barboursville who was his faithful caretaker; grandchildren, Derek Artrip, Josh Adkins, Hunter Adkins, Sara Ann Adkins, Megan Adkins, Tara Williams, Heather Barkey, and Harley Adkins; three step-grandchildren, Mark, Brent and Clint Artrip; one great-grandchild, Braylea Barkey; and one sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Billy Cooper of Milton. Hobart was a loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather. Visitation will be from Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
