ObituaryLinda Kay Cotton
Linda Kay Cotton, 72 of Huntington, WV went to be with the Lord on February 3, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 4, 1943 and was the daughter of the late John Wesley Adkins (preacher John) and Mary Magdelene Adkins. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, James “Roger” Cotton; three brothers, Kenneth D. Adkins, Frederick R. Adkins, and Randall L. Adkins; one sister, Phyllis J. Ramey; two daughters, Candy L. Cotton and Crystal A. Nibert (Kevin); two sons, Gregory S. Cotton and Keith R. Cotton (Tammy); six grandchildren, Zachary B. Nibert (Kristen), Cory T. Cotton, Courtney L. Cotton, Caleb M. Cotton, Logan T. Scarberry, and Kelcie J. Cotton; and one great-grandchild, Noah N. Nibert. She loved her church family and her brothers and sisters in Christ as much as she loved her own. During her illness, she quickly grew to love her hospice nurse; Jo Ghiz. Jo became part of our extended family and has earned our respect for the treatment, kindness, and special care that she provided; not only to our mother but the kindness and respect she gave all of the family. She was retired and was co-owner of R&L Drilling Company in Huntington, WV. She was a charter member of Charity United Baptist Church in Westmoreland, WV. She lived a Godly life and lead by example. She loved serving the Lord and wanted to see everyone saved so they could join her in Heaven, especially her children and family. She was an avid worker in her church. She began teaching Sunday school at 16 years of age and loved working with the youth. She loved special needs children and was always doing little projects for them by donating her talents. She wanted them to know they were loved and just how special they are. She was talented beyond measure and loved to quilt. She loved gifting her quilts to cancer patients and to so many people that she loved and adored. She loved to cook for her family and friends and was constantly spoiling her children and grandchildren with her sweet confections. She was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, and friend. She treated everyone she met with kindness and respect. She touched the hearts of everyone that met or knew her. If you had the pleasure of being part of her life, you were blessed! Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 7, 2016, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Elder O. F. Adkins and Elder Greg Dial. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
