GENEVA BOWEN "TURTLE" BURGESS
(October 15, 1947 - May 1, 2016)

God saw her getting tired and a cure was not to be. He wrapped her in His loving arms and whispered "Come with me." She suffered much in silence; her spirit did not bend. She faced her pain with courage, until the very end. She tried so hard to stay with us, but her fight was not in vain. God took her to His loving home and freed her from the pain. GENEVA "TURTLE" BOWEN BURGESS, 68, of Bowen Creek Road, Branchland, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, May 1, 2016, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2016, at Bowen Cemetery with the Rev. Darrel Adkins officiating, and special singing by Eugene Ferguson. She was born October 15, 1947, in Huntington, W.Va., a daughter of the late George H. and Alice M. Porter Bowen. She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Dale Burgess, three sisters, Margie Lucas, Bonnie Pettrey and Mary Catherine Bowen, and two brothers, Sonny Bowen and George Lindel Bowen. She is survived by two sons, Dennis Burgess of Bowen Creek Road, Branchland and Ronald Fults and his wife Sara of Miamisburg, Ohio; two sisters, Darlene Childers and Romaine Wantowski, both of Bowen Creek Road, Branchland; two grandchildren, Joshua T. Fults and Elizabeth A. Fults; and three brothers-in-law, Donald Childers, Ray Wantowski and Jim Pettrey. The family would like to give a special thanks to Linda Dillman for all the kindness and support she showed their mother/sister. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, in charge of arrangements.
