BILLY LEE "BILL" BURNS
(November 9, 1935 - September 20, 2016)
BILLY LEE "BILL" BURNS, 80, of
Huntington, W.Va., went home to heaven on Tuesday, September 20, 2016, at
St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services will be held on Friday,
September 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. at
Wallace Funeral Home in Barboursville, W.Va., with
Pastor Gordon Rutherford officiating. Burial will be at
Forest Memorial Park in Milton, W.Va. He was born November 9, 1935, in
Lincoln County, West Virginia, to the late Nora Sponuagle Burns and the late
Brud B. Burns. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
wife, Doreen, four sisters, Ethel Bragg, Elsie Reynolds, Sarah Jayne Fauver
and Imogene Stump, and four brothers, Leslie "Bood" Burns, Lester "Charles"
Burns, Ralph Jr. Burns and Paul Edward Burns. Bill was a member of Olive
Baptist Church and was retired from Special Metals. Bill loved sitting on
his porch watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.
Nothing made him happier than spending time with his family and his very
special friend, Carolyn Murphy. His is survived by two sons and
daughters-in-law, Mark and Donita Burns of Huntington, W.Va., and Brian and
Pam Burns of Black River Falls, Wis. He had six grandchildren, Scott Burns
and his wife Kerri of Huntington, W.Va., Matthew Burns of Huntington, W.Va.,
Jeanene Burns of Huntington, W.Va., Steven Burns of Manitowoc, Wis., Joshua
Burns of Washington, D.C., and Kristy Burns of Black River Falls, Wis.; four
super special great-grandchildren that he adored, Mattyson, Laycee, Katelyn
and Justin, and two sisters and their husbands, Thelma and Paul McComas of
Huntington, W.Va., and Barbara and John Trial of Daytona Beach, Fla. He had
a very special nephew and his wife, Bobby and Liz Stump. There was a great
group of friends that he had breakfast with at McDonald's that will truly
miss him. He spent his last morning on Earth with them. Special times for
sure. He will be missed by many, but not like he will be missed by those of
us that were privileged enough to see him every day. He was such a great
part of our lives and will truly be missed. Visitation took place from 5 to
8 p.m. Thursday at
Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
