ObituaryLola Frances Nelson
Lola Frances Nelson, 96, of Ona, WV, died peacefully at the home of her daughter, Brenda Puryear, in Farmville, VA on September 3, 2016. She was born July 25, 1920, in Huntington, WV, a daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth Ann Weed Hite. She was also preceded in death by her husband Charles Valentine Nelson; brothers, Arden, Avery and Dale Hite; sisters, Norma Johnson, Zelma Decker, and Jeanette Porter. She was a member of Beulah Ann Missionary Baptist Church. She worked as a senior companion until 88 years of age, and babysat several children of the community. She liked volunteering at Ona Elementary, making cookies and cupcakes and playing the Easter Bunny and Santa Claus. She is survived by her daughters Joyce McKinney (Jr. Adkins), and Brenda Puryear (Frank); one sister Bernice Roberts; seven grandchildren Barbara Foley, Tom Riley, Terry Barker, Charles Riley, Artie McKinney, Rebecca Eads, and Jonathan Adkins; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Beulah Ann Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2016 at Beulah Ann Missionary Baptist Church, Ona. Burial will be in Forest Memorial Park, Milton.
