Burl Edward "Punkie" Wooten

Burl Edward “Punkie” Wooten, 44, of Huntington, WV, passed away at St. Mary’s Medical Center on Monday, June 11, 2012. His paternal grandfather, Burl E. Wooten and his maternal grandmother, Dorothy Rowe Mills, preceded him in death. He was a member of Bowen Ridge Church; graduated with honors from Northwestern Technical College in Lima, OH; was employed by Dutch Miller Chevrolet then Steel of West Virginia; and was a fisherman and hunter. Survivors include: his parents Verlin E. and Christine Wooten of Proctorville, OH; three sons, Ty Wooten, Ryan Wooten, and Mason Wooten and their mother, Desma Decker Wooten, all of Huntington; one sister, Tina (Tony) Wells of Chesapeake, OH; one brother, Matthew Wooten of Proctorville, OH; and his paternal grandmother, Emmogene Wooten Greathouse of Huntington. Pallbearers will be Steven Adkins, and Claude, Darrell, Roger, Randy, Lee and Matthew Wooten. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Chapman’s Mortuary, Huntington. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, June 14, 2012, at Chapman’s Mortuary, with Rev. James Alley and Danny Wooten officiating. Burial will follow at the Adkins Cemetery on Green Valley Road in Huntington.
