Ercie Norma Lucas Powell
(May 24, 1913 - August 17, 2014)



Ercie Norma Lucas Powell, 101, of Huntington, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday August 17, 2014 from Huntington Health and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at Crossroads Baptist Church, with Pastor John M. Duffy officiating and John Bourn, Rodney LeGrand, and Stephanie Abbess will provide music. Burial will be in Woodmere Memorial Park. Ercie was the daughter of Garland “GV” and Rosetta “Rosie” Kirk Lucas of Salt Rock, WV. She was born May 24, 1913 on Dog Fork, in Salt Rock, WV. Others preceding her in death are her husband, Luther Powell; infant son, Thomas Kent; sisters, Eskie Lucas Bexfield (John), Ruby Lucas Calder (Humphry), and Mildred Lucas Messer Dandridge; brothers, Ritzel (Roxie) Lucas, Herman H. Lucas (Thelma), Russell C. Lucas, Erskine “John” Lucas, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is retired from Perry Norvel Shoe Company working there some 49 years, and was a charter member and lifetime member of Crossroads Baptist Church in Huntington where she was a member of the choir and worked in the Sunday School Department. Ercie is survived by her daughter, Frances (Virgle) West; grandson, Mark West; great granddaughters, Frances Jacqueline West Kelly, Toni Joann West Caldwell, and Meaghan West; one great grandson, Melvin Colter “Colt” West; great great granddaughter, Kaylin Marie West; grand daughter-in-law, Kim Bross West (Michael), all of Texas; and a brother, Kenneth Lucas of Huntington. The family would like to especially thank the Huntington Health and Rehabilitation, as well as Dr. Patti Marcum and her staff for the love and care they gave to her. Friends may call 6:00-8:00 pm Tuesday August 19, 2014 at Chapman’s Mortuary and after noon on Wednesday at the church.
