Donna Kay Johnson
(October 10, 1943 - February 24, 2014)

Mrs. Donna Kay Johnson, 70, of Huntington, West Virginia, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, in Cabell Huntington Hospital. She was born Oct. 10, 1943 in Huntington, WV, to the late Rosetta Burrell and Raymond Tyler. She was the granddaughter of the late Anna and Clyde Dobey. Donna attended Douglass High School and graduated with the final class in 1961. That same year she was crowned Miss Douglass. She was married to Archie Lee Johnson on March 19, 1965 and to this union four children were born; Dawn Kimberly, Christopher Dion, Annalisha Michelle, and Robert Nelson. She was employed at Owens-Illinois for more than 20 years. Donna was quiet, kind, and generous, giving of her time, attention, and love. She was an avid reader and a passionate fan of the Marshall University football and basketball teams. She also cheered on any professional teams her sons supported and liked discussing team prospects for the season with them. She enjoyed playing games on her Kindle Fire, she said to keep her mind sharp. She was quick to laugh, either from something on television or when chatting on the phone with her sister or aunt. She loved children, and whenever she heard a family member was expecting, she’d get busy crocheting a baby blanket as a gift. She also donated some of those blankets to the local hospital. She lived her life treating people well, with patience and compassion. She is survived by her husband, her children; sister Victoria Madison, half-sister Renata Brown; aunt Mary Collins; uncle Clyde Dobey Jr.; nephews James, Jason, and Jaron Madison; niece Traci Madison; cousins Linda Davis, Billy and Troy Collins, the Rev. Stan Washington, Scheherazade Washington-Childs, Gerry Washington, Robyn Holman, Clyde Dobey III,; Sacheen Davis Garrison, Rommel Davis, Lisha Davis Perdue; and a number of other family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home with Rev. Reginald Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, WV. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
