Obituary

SYLVESTER F. "Beck" RYDER, 86, of Lesage departed this life Sunday, January 23, 2005, to live with Jesus in his eternal home. Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Rev. Gordon Rutherford and Rev. Wendell Shull officiating. Burial will follow in Union Ridge Cemetery. He was born February 7, 1918, in Lesage, a son of the late Jaspher T. and Minnie Joy Rider. He was also preceded in death by one infant brother and two infant sisters; two brothers, Herbert and Raymond Rider; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Eva and John Nowlin and Inez and Don McFann; one sister-in-law, Opal Rider; one brother-in-law, Kelson Henry; mother and father-in-law, Ruzella and Clyde Henry. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Pauline Henry Ryder; one son and daughter-in-law, Freddy and Linda Ryder; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Wesley Thompson and Sherry and Willard Dailey; six grandchildren, Robbie Holmes, Scott and Jennifer Ryder, Samuel Shadd III, Micah Johnson and Brytani Dailey; three great-grandchildren, Treyton Ryder, Dylan McComas, and Mayshayla Holmes; one brother and sister-in-law, Jaspher T. "Jr." and Delores Ryder of Lesage; one sister-in-law, Madeline Rider of Huntington; three brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and Alma "Bunnie" Kuhn of Barboursville, Basil and Faye Henry of Milton and Darrell and Gladys Ellis of Gallipolis, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Beck was owner and operator of Ryder's General Store. He and Pauline worked in the store for nearly 50 years. He also leaves behind many friends and loved ones whom he loved to sit around the store and talk to. Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton. Pallbearers will be Scott Ryder, Samuel Shadd III, Dana and David Ryder, Kenny McComas and Ray Johnson.
