Obituary

WILLIAM LAWRENCE VANCE, 78, of Culloden passed away Sunday, June 12, 2005, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Kregg Burris and the Rev. Keith Creasy officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Memorial Park, Milton. He was born January 17, 1927, in Cabell County, W.Va., a son of the late William and Sabia Chaney Vance. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, Teays Valley, and the American Legion Post 139, Milton. Mr. Vance served in the United States Army during World War II, where he spent 18 months in Germany. He retired from Columbia Gas after 47 years of employment. He is survived by his wife, Mary Rena Johnson Vance; one son and daughter-in-law, Darren and Roxana Vance of Culloden; two daughters and sons-in-law, Darlene and Larry Lowry of Huntington and Paula and Barry Delbart of Milton; five grandchildren, Katy Lowry, Erin Lowry, Dakota McCray, Bryan Delbart and Jason Delbart; one great-grandson, Terry Keith Delbart; two sisters, Inez Lucas of Milton and Winnie Coyer of St. Albans; and two brothers, Kenneth Vance of Columbus, Ohio, and Grant Vance of Milton. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the funeral home.
