Obituary


Philip Charles Addis, 85, of Culloden, passed away Friday, March 11, 2011 in St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM, Monday, March 14, 2011 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with Rev. Allen Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Valley View Memorial Park, Hurricane. He was born May 22, 1925 in Morgantown, WV, a son of the late Carol and Leona Pringle Addis. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Betty Addis; and brother, Don Addis. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired chemical operator with Union Carbide after 43 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Georgia Addis; two sons and daughters-in-law, Philip , Jr. and Cindy Addis and Steve and Jodie Addis all of Culloden; daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Dave Richards of Pennsylvania; sister, Barbara Addis Merritt of Charleston; four grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Adrianne, Ryan, Sarah, and Chris; three great grandchildren, Kelsea, Hadley, and Garrett; many good friends with whom he and Georgia vacationed with year after year in Myrtle Beach, SC. Visitation will be Monday, March 14, 2011 from noon to 2 PM, prior to the service on Monday at Heck Funeral Home.
