Janet Ann Anderson
(October 22, 1921 - May 22, 2016)

Janet Anderson, passed away, Sunday May 22, 2016 at St. Mary's Medical Center, with her family by her side. She was born Janet Ann Wolczenski in Chicago, IL on October 22, 1921. Janet lived a wonderful life, growing up in a Polish neighborhood in Chicago. She attended her Parish school at St. John Cantius and later graduated from St. Stanislaus Kostka High School. She trained to be a secretary but also studied vocal performance and performed as an opera Soprano on Chicago radio stations and at other civic events. Her love of all music was evident throughout her life. She met her future husband James Anderson when they were co-workers in post WWII Chicago. They were married for nearly 52 years before his untimely death in 2003. Janet had two children, Steve (Marcia) Anderson of South Point, OH and Mary Anderson of Vernon Hills, IL, and 5 beloved grandchildren, Steven, Markessa (Chris) Needham, Alex, Zachary and James Anderson. She was also a loved Aunt of many nieces and nephews across the country. The last half of her life Janet lived in Huntington, and this became her family's adopted hometown. When her children were grown she went to work at WPBY Television for 20 years and gained may dear friends from the experience. She was also an active volunteer in her community and her Parish, Our Lady of Fatima. Early on after moving to Huntington, she and other Tallwood Acres residents assisted a neighboring family exercising two disabled children, which bonded the neighborhood together. After her retirement from WPBY Janet volunteered at the Our Lady of Fatima Parish School library. An avid reader herself, she loved working at the school. Once again she loved the many friendships she gained from the experience. Besides her husband Janet was preceded in death by her parents Stefan and Aniela Wolczenski, her brother Stanley (Joan), and her sister Ada (Stan) Zmudski. She leaves behind her children, grandchildren and other extended family who will keep her in their hearts forever. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Huntington, W.Va. with Father Paul Yuenger officiating. Entombment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington, W.Va. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at Henson & Kitchen Mortuary, Huntington, W.Va. near Barboursville.  The family requests that memorial donations be made to Our Lady of Fatima Parish School at 545 Norway, Ave. Huntington, W.Va. 25705.
