Obituary

Henry Lankin Ducker
(
February 2, 1928 - October 23, 2013)

Henry Lakin Ducker Jr., the first of three sons of Judge Henry
Lakin Ducker and Frances Talbot Ducker was born February 2nd, 1928 with a severe cerebral hemorrhage which caused extensive physical injuries and other limitations which he ignored and always maintained a happy disposition. He died on October 23, 2013, in Huntington, at the age of 84, eighty some years past his early life expectancy. Henry's education was through home schooling and the dedicated kind efforts of his Mother, Frances Talbot Ducker and Dr. Lucy A. Whitsel, a neighbor and a Marshall College professor. The public school teachers of Huntington were superior and quite understanding. Of particular significance was Henry Shadwell, the Huntington High school band director, and later Thomas O'Connell, the Marshall College band director. Henry was a proud Marshall College bachelor graduate in the class of 1952. Henry's life was always in Huntington and his knowledge of people and places was always up to date. He enjoyed his long association with the Elks Club and was a life time member of the First Presbyterian Church. The imparted steady love, wisdom and guidance of his father and
mother served him well his entire life. He became a happy fixture to his surroundings and acquaintances. Thank you Presbyterian Manor and Linda Adkins of South Western Community Action Counsel Inc. for the last years of dedicated service.
