Obituary

Tommy Eugene Reed
(January 16, 1951 - September 3, 2014)

Tom E. Reed, age 63, passed away on September 3, 2014, at the Hospice House of Huntington, after a long struggle with an illness. His best friend, Bonnie S. Pauley, predeceased Mr. Reed. He is also survived by his former spouse, Lisa Lycans; four children: Jason Reed of San Francisco, Shelly Mitchell of South Point, OH, Damon and Nathan Reed of Huntington, WV and lifelong friend/brother, Jim “Boots” Reed, also of Huntington. Mr. Reed is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Vietnam War where he earned several medals. He also served in Europe, including Germany and Spain. He was a graduate of Marshall University, earning both a B.A. and a M.A. in Mental Health Counseling. He was a former Regional President of Coca-Cola and also served 20 years as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Regional Office in Huntington. His life success can directly be attributed to his around-the-clock positive attitude, compassionate, sympathetic and empathetic personality, work ethic, loyalty and passion for those who have and do serve our country. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Steve Williams. Military Rites and committal service will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East, Greenup, County Kentucky.
