Ruth Vesta Marcum Keeler, 89, of Huntington, WV, passed away on Wednesday November 30, 2016 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Born November 4, 1927 in Huntington, she was the daughter of the late John H. Marcum and Sarah See Marcum. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 67 years, George E. Keeler. Also preceding her in death brothers Herbert Marcum (Nitro), Clyde Marcum (Nitro) and Paul Marcum (Calif.) and sisters Hannah M. Keeler (Calif.) and Maude St. Clair Mitchell (Calif.) and Florence V. Cox (Htgn). Ruth was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She worked a short time for Sylvania, Guyan Country Club and Holiday Inn where she serviced most all banquets, parties and wedding receptions. Ruth had a beautiful and versatile singing voice and at the age of 18, while visiting her sister in California, she was approached by an agent for the Tommy Dorsey Band for an audition as she was singing to a radio song in a grocery store. Ruth is survived by her children Sara Earl Simmons of Huntington and Georgina R. Hart (Larry) of Huntington; grandchildren J. Scott Earl (Beth) of Wheelersburg, OH, Christina L. Collins (Christopher) of Ashland, KY, Brian E. Hart of Huntington and Brett A. Hart of Huntington; six great grandchildren along with several special nieces and nephews and a special angel and caregiver her niece, Sharon Snead of Nitro, WV. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 pm Sunday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Pastor Scott Byard. Burial will follow in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. Friends may call from 1 pm until service time on Sunday at the Reger Funeral Home.
