Iona Lee Adkins Davis
(March 18, 1923 - November 12, 2013)



Iona Lee Adkins Davis of Lesage, WV went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at The Hospice House of Huntington. She was born March 18, 1923 in East Lynn, WV, daughter of the late Ernest and Ida Warf Adkins. Preceding her in death was her husband of 57 years Thomas Reed Davis, a sister, Ruth Adkins Thomas and a brother, Harold Adkins. She is survived by her daughters Myrna (Bill) McKendree and Devona (Dr. L. Frank Tex) Frye, five grandchildren Brian (Kellye) McKendree, Christine (Jeff) Minor, Rebecca (Mike) Guilliams, Leslie (Richie) McNiel and Eric (Amelia) Frye, and nine great-grandchildren Evan and Ellie McKendree, Rachel and Kate Minor, Benjamin and Molly Guilliams, Sophie and Rylee McNiel, and Michael Frye. She was also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and a special friend Betty Miller. Iona had been a member of Steele Memorial United Methodist Church for nearly 50 years and particularly enjoyed the Pennington Sunday School Class. For most of her life she was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing and studying the Bible. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday November 15, 2013 at Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, 733 Shaw Street Barboursville, WV. Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the same day. Services will be conducted by Rev. Dr. John Sauvage, Rev. Ralph Sager and Rev. Dr. L. Frank Tex Frye. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington.
