PHILLIP W. LAWHON
(March 31, 1940 - April 8, 2017)



PHILLIP W. LAWHON, 77, of Ona, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2017, at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 13, 2017, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Dale Barnett, Pastor James Kessick and Robert "Bob" Bowen. Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park, Huntington. He was a member of Abundant Life Baptist Church and a veteran of the US Navy. He retired from the Shell Chemical Company. He was born March 31, 1940, in Cabell County, a son of the late Glen and Thelma Halley Lawhon. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Glenda Gayle Bowen Lawhon, and two sons, Phillip Weston Lawhon II and his wife Tonya of Barboursville, and Michael Glen Lawhon and his wife Andrea of Elkview, W.Va.; 11 grandchildren, Anthony, Cassie, Dianna, Michael, Aaron, Cody, Adam, Tyler, Jason, Brian and Noah; 20 great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Lonnie and "Coach." Phillip was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed his cabin in the mountains with his loving family. His cocker spaniel, Angel, was always by his side. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville.
