Obituary
Marian Elizabeth Green, 89, of
Huntington, passed away Wednesday, April 23,
2008 in St. Mary’s
Medical
Center.
She was born on August 9, 1918 in
Charleston,
WV daughter of the late Robert
Russell and Ernestine Markley Green. Miss Green moved
with her parents to
Huntington in 1935.
She attended
Huntington
High School graduating in 1937 and
attended
Wiseman
Business
School.
She was employed for 25 years as secretary at General Department
Stores, formerly Koppers Stores. Following the closure
of General Stores was employed briefly at Chandler Plywood Products and The
Chamber of Commerce. Miss Green was employed at
Marshall
University for 17 ½
years and retired in 1983 from the position of Secretary to the Vice
President for Academic Affairs. She was a former member
of the Kuhn Memorial Presbyterian Church and in 1998 was a member of the
Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church. A 50 year member of
the Huntington Chapter #8 Order of the Eastern Star. In
September 1998 Miss Green moved to
Bristol
Village, a retirement community in
Waverly,
Ohio where she remained active.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Waverly.
She is survived by many cousins and friends. A
memorial service will be conducted at a later date at the Beverly Hills
Presbyterian Church, Huntington.
