Obituary

Mitzi Kaye “Sissy” Wheeler Shepard, 62 of Huntington, WV died Tuesday April 15, 2008 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, TN after a courageous battle with Leukemia. She was born February 25, 1948 in Huntington, WV a daughter of Dorothy Hiltibrand of Huntington and the late Doliver Wheeler. She was also preceded in death by a special friend Matthew Washington.  Mitzi was a lab technician for the Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital for 29 years and was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church.  In addition to her mother she is survived by a daughter, Emily Michael Shepard of Huntington; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Sandra Fletcher of Huntington and Lorna and Jim North of Jackson, TN; her special companions, her cat Pete and her dog, Honey. She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her special friends, Stella Conway, Thom Christian and Karen and Patty Jarrell. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to the American Cancer Society or to Hope Lodge, 2008 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN 37312. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM on Saturday at Beard Mortuary. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM with Mr. Jerry Moore officiating.
