Arnold L. "Corky" Coyer

Arnold L. “Corky” Coyer, 77, of
Huntington passed away Sunday,
May 3, 2009 in Hospice House of Huntington. Funeral
service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Beard
Mortuary, Huntington, with Dr. C. J. Adkins officiating.
Burial will follow in
Ridgelawn
Memorial Park,
Huntington.
He was born August 17, 1931 in
Greenbottom,
WV, a son of the late Henry and
Bessie Crawford Coyer. He was also preceded in death by
a sister, Hope Coyer Williams. Mr. Coyer was a boating
enthusiast and was very active in the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary,
in which he held numerous offices, including Commodore of the 8th
Eastern Region. He would have had 50 years of service in
the auxiliary this year. Corky was also a huge supporter
of the Vinson High School Band Boosters for many years.
He was a devoted father and husband to his wife of 56 years, Roberta
“Bobbie” Coyer and his daughter, Susan Coyer of
Huntington.
He is also survived by one brother, Larry Coyer and his wife, Jan of
Indianapolis, IN; six special nieces and nephews, Becki (Benny) Hall, Diana
(Chester) McCoy, Alberta (Dave) Tompkins, Jesse “Bud” Williams, Justin Coyer
and Matthew Coyer; and many special cousins, family and friends.
Friends may call Tuesday, May 5, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the
mortuary.
