      Obituary
      Charlene Elizabeth (Turner)
      Jeffords
      Sep 4, 1924 - May 4, 2009
 Charlene Turner Jeffords, 84, of

    Huntington,
    West Virginia, slipped away
peacefully into the arms of her lord at the Emogene Dolen Jones Hospice
House of Huntington on May 4, 2009. She was born in

    Barboursville,
    West Virginia, the daughter of
KC and Eura Mae Turner on September 4, 1924. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by her husband, Paul L. Jeffords and three sisters,
Nancy Turner, Mary Lee Lewis, and Wilma Miller. She is survived by her
brother, Karl Allen Turner (whom she raised from the age of 10) and
sister-in- law Pam Turner; a daughter, Cindy Jeffords of Huntington, a
brother- in-law, Paul Lewis of Huntington; a sister-in-law, Betty Overholt
of Huntington; as well as several nephews and nieces. She also leaves behind
a most special and devoted friend of 60 plus years, Betty Jo Patton of
Huntington, as well as two most cherished neighbors, Betty Blankenship and
Julia Adkins, also of Huntington. As a teenager, Charlene's first job was at
Hearthstone Drug Store near St. Mary's. In her twenties, she worked at
Watts-Ritter Company and the former Anderson Newcomb Company in

    Huntington. Thereafter, Charlene
worked as a doctor's assistant for two former
Huntington obstetricians, Dr. Bozo and Dr.
Dobbs, who both had practices in

    Huntington. Later, she worked as
a receptionist at Medical Arts Pharmacy in

    Huntington. However, her greatest
joy in life came from being a homemaker for her family. Charlene was a
delight to everyone she met. She had a most special gift of uplifting the
spirits of those who came in contact with her. She was referred to as 'Miss
Bubbles' by a close friend of the family. One of her favorite activities was
to make her delicious candy for the people she met throughout her life's
journey. She touched the lives of many, making the world a better place for
those with whom she came into contact. She was truly a "joy" to both family
and friends and will be greatly missed by many. She was a member of the

    26th Street Church of
Christ where she faithfully attended for many years. A celebration of
Charlene's life will be conducted by Rev. Hubert Harvey and Mr. Cliff
Winters at Beard Mortuary, Thursday, May 7, at 11:00 AM. Burial
    will follow at

    Woodmere
    Memorial Park. Friends
may call on Wednesday, May 6, from 6 to 8 PM at the mortuary. The family
would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Huntington for its
wonderful care of Charlene during the last few months. Flowers will be
appreciated but those who wish may make a contribution to Hospice of
    Huntington in Charlene’s honor.
