Philip Angelos Pappas, 73 of Huntington, WV passed away at his residence on Friday August 13, 2010 with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Lipphardt officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.  He was born July 4, 1937 in Buckhannon, WV a son of the late Angelos and Gordie Townsend Pappas. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Pappas. He was a 1955 graduate of Buckhannon Upshur High School, after graduation went in to the U.S. Navy; he then attended and graduated from the Pennsylvania School of Nursing for Men where he completed his education in Anesthesia. He became a member of Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in 1966; he was formerly on Huntington City Council in the 1970’s and served as Assistant Mayor for a year during his term on City Council. He was a member and former president of Huntington Jaycee’s and is a J.C.I. Senator. He is a member of A.A.N.A. and a former member of the Guyan Golf and Country Club. Phil was an avid golfer and Marshall Supporter. He is survived by his loving family, including his wife, Connie Reger Pappas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Missi and Keefe Powell of North Myrtle Beach, SC and Mindy and David Noll of Columbus, OH; a brother and sister-in-law, Danny and Debbie Pappas of Huntington; two sisters, Maureen Allen and her husband, John of New Jersey and Barbara Replogle and Gary Dowell of Buckhannon; he is also survived by his grandchildren, Denice, Philip, Allison, Priscilla, Beverly, Gabriel, Amber and Hailey; great grandchildren, Troy, Elijah and Knox.; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, friends, coworkers and his special group of poker buddies and their wives in the TNPC.
