Obituary
JOYCE CATHERINE STOLLINGS, 68, of Mt. Vernon, OH, formerly of Chesapeake, OH, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at her residence. She was born on January 17, 1942 in Williamson, WV a daughter of the late Clifford Phillips and Ila Ree Edwards Phillips Davis. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Estel Grover Phillips. She is survived by two daughters, C. Michele (Jim) Gire of Centerburg, OH and Ila Renee (Richard) Martin of New Castle, VA; one son, Douglas R. (Debra) Hunter III of Denver, CO; nine grandchildren, Jamie, Nick, Dan, Mason, Samantha, Jacob, Tate, Ashleigh and Rhett; and one great-grandchild, Jadyn. A very talented person, Joyce won national awards for her painting of ceramics. She owned and operated several businesses including Emery Square, a hair and nail salon, as well as The Fiery Kiln and The Clothes Connection. She enjoyed being with her “sisters” of the Eastern Star and loved country music, especially her favorite artist, Conway Twitty. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Pastor Ron Burnsworth officiating. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington. Friends may call on Friday evening from 6 – 8 p.m. at the mortuary.
