MARY EDNA NEWMAN DORSEY, 92
Mary Dorsey, a native Huntingtonian, a longtime resident of the area, and a member of Community of Grace United Methodist Church, died of congestive heart failure on November 3,2010 at the Wyngate Inn in Barboursville, WV. She was born October 6, 1918 in Huntington, daughter of the late Lassen M. and Carrie Hodges Newman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Andrew Brooke Dorsey, an infant son Richard Leon, and two sisters, Marguerite Reynolds and Lula Nixon. She is survived by three sons and daughters in law James (Jack) and Connie of Warwick, NY, William (Bill) and Mary Ellen of New Bern, NC, and John and Judy of Huntington; seven grandchildren; Jeff, Kim, Jason, Heather, Trevor, Jordan and Tanner and three great-grandchildren; Mona, Bryson and Alex. Mrs. Dorsey was a graduate of Huntington High School and the Huntington Business School, and worked for years in secretarial positions at Lincoln Elementary School and the Seventh Avenue Methodist Church. She was a lifetime member of the TNT social club. From 1978 until 1997, she resided in Lakeland, Florida before returning to Huntington. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at Wyngate Inn and Hospice of Huntington. Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am., Monday at Beard Mortuary with the Rev. Steve Hamrick and the Rev. William DeMoss officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at Beard Mortuary.
