Obituary
WENDELL "Bill" JONES, 90 of Huntington, W.Va., died Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with Rev. Bill DeMoss and Rev. Steve Hamrick officiating. Military rites and entombment will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park Mausoleum, Huntington. He was born Oct. 7, 1920, in Wealthia, Va., a son of the late Harry Lee and Ila Grimes Jones. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Jones. He was retired as a window service superintendent for the U.S. Postal Service. Bill was a member of the Community of Grace Church where he attended the Trinity Sunday School Class, the American Legion Post 16 and the N.A.R.F.E. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and retired with 20 years in the Naval Reserve. He is survived by his wife, Opal Boster Jones; two sons and daughters-in-law, J. Michael and Shirley Jones of Huntington and J. Patrick and Cindy Jones of Huntington; five grandchildren, Kelly Esposito, Scott, Joel, Bill and Ben Jones and a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Wilson Coleman of Thomasville, N.C. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Beard Mortuary.
