William Richard Hayes, 70 of South Point, OH passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at Beard Mortuary with Pastor J.R. Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow at Woodmere Memorial Park. William was born on October 30, 1941 in Huntington, a son of the late William Wetzel Hayes and Mabel King Hayes. William was a member of the VFW Post 1064 and the Masons, he also retired from Ashland Oil. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Robert Hayes; two nephews, Steve Hayes and infant William Lee Hayes. Survivors include his loving wife Valerie Dewhurst Hayes; two daughters, Julie and Matthew Estep of Louisa, KY, Dawn Hayes of South Point, OH; two grandchildren, Josh and Tiffany Estep; one sister-in-law, Cindy Hayes; Sue and Dick Halbert and family, nephew Rob and Sue Hayes; niece Missy Cardwell; three great nieces, Melissa, Robyn, Rylee; and one great nephew, Steven and wife Crystal. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00pm Monday, August 27, 2012 at Beard Mortuary. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House.
