William James Evans
(August 27, 1954 - August 30, 2014)



William “Bill” James Evans, Sr., of Delray Beach, Florida, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully of natural causes on Friday, August 29, 2014.
Bill was born August 27, 1954, in Huntington, West Virginia to Helen G. Evans and the late William A. Evans. Bill was forever young at heart and full of life, and brought joy to everyone he touched, whether family, friends or business partners. He was a wonderful son, father, grandparent and friend. He is survived by his loving mother, Helen G. Evans; his daughter, Nicole Gale-Evans; his son William J. Evans, Jr. and wife Elizabeth and grandchildren Dylan, Layne, Ethan, William III and Aidan, and great-granddaughter, Madolyn Rose; niece Katie Denning and husband Ben and their sons Ben and Luke; nephew Adam D. Franklin and wife Christy and their children Ryleigh Grace, Adam and Tanner; and niece Jennie L. Cummings and husband Mel and their son Will.
Bill was a member of the Huntington East High School class of 1972 and studied Political Science, Biology and Chemistry at Marshall University, and Pre-Law at Washington & Lee University. Bill had many dear and life-long friends, including Scott Harrison, Rocco Muriale and Jonathan Dinkins; also his special friends at the Quail Ridge Country Club. Bill started work at Rocco’s Ristorante in Ceredo, WV, later opening his own Rocco’s location in Charleston, WV. Bill moved to Hilton Head Island, SC, in 1986 where he began his lifelong career in finance with Interstate Johnson Lane. He relocated to Atlanta during the 90s to serve as financial advisor with Raymond James and Aegon. Bill later moved to the Delray Beach, FL, area and was promoted to Regional VP with Pacific Life. He served as Divisional VP with Transamerica, and more recently played key roles with other firms such as AXA and Genworth. Bill was an exceptionally talented golfer who enjoyed traveling and being with friends. His stylish zest for life and enthusiasm will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
The family will gather and greet friends for a celebration of Bill’s life on Saturday, September 6, at Beard Mortuary in Huntington, WV, at 12 p.m. A brief remembrance service will occur at 1 p.m., with Reverend Jerry Chapman, officiating
