Obituary
BETTY B. PARKER,
91, of Huntington, W.Va., passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Midland
Meadows, Ona, W.Va. Funeral services will be held on Monday August 11, 2014,
at 1p.m. at Beard Mortuary with Pastor Ron Burnsworth officiating.
Entombment will follow in Woodmere Memorial Park. She was born August
17, 1922, in Huntington, W.Va., the daughter of the late Don M. and Virginia
Lee Hazard Bates. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death on
August 19, 2003, by her husband Paul B. Parker. She was a retired
Pharmacist; she worked at Bates East End Pharmacy upon graduating from
Cincinnati College of Pharmacy and assumed ownership after her father
retired. After the pharmacy closed in 1961, she worked at Cabell Huntington
Hospital and did relief work for several pharmacies in Huntington. She was
believed to be the first woman pharmacist in Cabell County. She is survived
by her daughter and son-in-law Virginia Parker and Richard Goetz of Ojai,
Calif.; and a son Don Parker of Costa Mesa, Calif.; a sister Patricia Bates
Crutcher of Palm Desert, Calif.; a brother and sister-in-law, Don M. Bates
II and Evelyn of El Paso, Ill.; cousin Nancy and Frank James of Huntington;
niece Ann Hester of Maysville, Ky.; special friends Verlion and Louise Black
of Huntington and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to
express a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Midland Meadows for their
excellent care. The family will receive friends after noon on
Monday at Beard Mortuary.
