General Lee Smith

GENERAL LEE SMITH, JR. 83 of Huntington, WV passed away on Tuesday January 6, 2015 at Emogene Dolin Hospice House. Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Beard Mortuary with his nephew Rev. Ricky Weber officiating. Masonic and Military services will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. He was born October 9, 1931 a son of the late General L. Smith, Sr. and Beulah Rood Smith. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Lynn Gilbert Ferguson, sister, Betty Miller and a granddaughter, Natasha Strathman. He was a retired Engineer for the Corps of Engineers. He was a 32nd degree mason with the Huntington Lodge 53 A.F. & A.M; Scottish Rite Bodies, Beni Kedem Temple and Huntington Shrine Clubs. He is registered in the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not for his name, General Lee. He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann Smith, sons, Michael Sean Smith and wife, Athanasia of Charlotte, NC and Marvin Lawrence Strathman and wife, Julie of Ona, WV; and grandchildren, Cassie Gilbert, Ensign Gary Gilbert, III, Christopher Strathman, Christina Roe, Pavlo, Nicholas Lee and Sebastian Smith; great grandchildren, Sophia, Indi and Abby, cousin, Sherry Rood Painter and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Patricia Clark. Those who wish may make memorial contributions to Parkinson’s Association or Hospice of Huntington. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Beard Mortuary.
