Troy L. Reese, Jr. formerly of Huntington, WV passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at his home in St. Charles, Missouri. He was born June 17, 1931 in Huntington, WV the son of the late Troy L. Reese, Sr. and Ruth Willis Reese. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Margaret Handley Reese, as well as his five sisters, Mary Harker, Frances Newton, Sharlene Reese, Betty Clark and Janet Reese and his loving step mother Gertrude Darling Reese. He is survived by his daughters, Donna (Jeff) Russell of St. Charles, Missouri and DiAnn (Tim) Stark of Palmetto, Fl; a step-brother Myron (Yvonne) Darling of Melbourne, FL. Troy leaves four grandchildren to mourn his passing, Brian Russell, Stephanie (Dave) Tran, Timmy Stark and Jared Stark. He will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Troy graduated from Huntington East High School in 1949, where he was an outstanding football player and was voted as one of the 10 best defensive linemen ever to play at East. He went on to play football at Marshall under the great Cam Henderson and was proud to be considered one of “Cam’s Boys”. Troy loved the shooting sports and as a result won the 1952 WV State Skeet Shooting Championship. His love of sports also extended to the golf course, where he won may Club Championships at the Riviera Country Club. He was able to score a total of 9 holes-in-one during his golfing career. Troy served his country in the US Army from 1952-1954, where he was involved in the early surface to air Missile Program. Troy, along with his father and his uncle A.H. Willis, owned and operated the former Willis Furniture Co., which was a longtime East Huntington business. Troy was an active and faithful member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and later belonged to the Community of Grace United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at Beard Mortuary with Rev. William DeMoss officiating. Entombment will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens.
