| Obituary
     
      Nellie Tabitha Mayse, 102, of 
      Huntington, passed away on Thursday, September 29, 2016. Born on February 
      25, 1914 in Braxton County, WV, she was a daughter of the late Benjamin 
      and Ora Lee Edgell. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death 
      by her husband of 49 years, Walter Wayne Mayse, a retired City of 
      Huntington Firefighter; three sisters, Opal Barr, Ola Chenoweth and Mabel 
      Newell and one brother, Ernest Edgell. Nellie was a longtime member of the 
      Seventh Avenue Baptist Church. She also attended the Fairfield East Senior 
      Center regularly. A fastidious homemaker, she enjoyed gardening and flower 
      keeping. Nellie reveled in having her grandchildren by her side. For 62 
      years, she wrote the book on how to be a grandmother. She is survived by 
      her daughters, Anna Lee Meadows of Huntington and Bernice Jean (Donald) 
      Beckettof Union, KY; 5 grandchildren, William R. (Della) Meadows, David W. 
      (Patricia) Meadows, Michael K. (Kimberly) Meadows, Robert O. (Tonya) 
      Newman and Geri A. (John) Hodnett. Nellie was blessed to have 8 
      great-grandchildren, Marshall O. Weakley and Amanda J. Weakley, Kimberly 
      (Ben) Harvey, Brian Meadows, Laura (Jen) Meadows, John (Jennifer) Meadows, 
      Kristi Campbell and Sean (Sherelyn) Lynch; 9 great-great-grandchildren, 
      Dylan, MacKenzie and Zackary Meadows, Lily and Lanie Carter, Josslyn 
      Campbell and Eli, Jude and Vera Lynch. Nellie’s children, grandchildren, 
      great and great-great-grandchildren were a source of joy and 
      accomplishment. Her love, support and outlook on life brought all who knew 
      her great serenity. Nellie will forever be in our hearts. Funeral Services 
      will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, October 3, 2016 at Beard Mortuary, 
      Huntington, with Pastor Bob Withers, officiating. The family will welcome 
      friends one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Woodmere 
      Memorial Park, Huntington.
