Edwin Dunkle
(May 4, 1928 - September 1, 2012)
Mr. Carl Edwin Dunkle, 84, of
Lavalette, WV, husband of Helen Casto Dunkle, passed away Saturday,
September 1, 2012 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House. Funeral services
will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Lavalette
United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with Revs. Gregory Godwin
and Carol McKay officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memorial
Gardens, Barboursville, WV, with military graveside honors being given by
Veterans Honor Guard, Post 16 officiating. He was born May 4, 1928 at
Lavalette, WV a son of the late William F. and Claudia Bunn Dunkle. He was a
Korean War Veteran, a retired Letter Carrier with the U. S. Postal Service,
a member of the Nation Association of Letter Carriers, VFW Post #1064, the
D.A.V., Lavalette United Methodist Church, where he served as a licensed Lay
Speaker, and taught Sunday School for over 50 years. He loved to farm, raise
cattle, and sing. He graduated from Wayne High School, where played
football, he attended Marshall College, and helped to start the Lavalette
Little League. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 5 sons; David and
Della Dunkle, of Lavalette, Randal and Jean Dunkle of Beckley, WV, Gregory
and Deborah Dunkle of Wayne, WV, Robert “Bob” Dunkle of Huntington, and
Thomas and Brenda Dunkle of Scott Depot, WV; one daughter Amy Dunkle Cassidy
and Mark of Lavalette, WV; grandchildren, Andi, Matthew, Heather, Jessica,
Jason, Jacob, Caleb, Michael, Stephanie, Kenneth, Anna, Luke and Levi; 5
great grandchildren; a sister, Ina Lou Peake of Lavalette, WV, a brother,
William J. and Gladys Dunkle of Lavalette, WV, special caregivers, Wilma
Childers, Dorina and Ben Clayborn, and especially extended thanks to those
at Hospice House. Friends may visit with the family after 12:00 PM Tuesday,
September 4, 2012 at the Lavalette United Methodist Church. Chapman’s
Mortuary, Huntington, WV is assisting the family with the funeral
arrangements. “ Men, you will never be happy until you accept Jesus
Christ as you Savior”.
