Lou Cook Moore
(October 10, 1934 - August 23, 2013)
Johnna Lou Cook Moore,
78, of Huntington, WV, took off her earthly wings to fly with the Angels on
Friday, August 23, 2013, in the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House,
Huntington. She could not wait to be with her husband Jack again and to see
her Lord and Savior. Her celebration of life will be conducted 1:00 PM
Monday, August 26, 2013, at First Church of the Nazarene in Huntington with
her brother, Rev. Robert Cook and her life long friend Dallas Moore
officiating. Entombment will be in Woodmere Memorial Park, Huntington.
Johnna was born October 10, 1934 in Logan County, WV a daughter of the late
John Lewis and Louise Damron Cook. Her husband, Jack Arnol Moore; a sister,
Dorothy Cook Moore; two brothers, Freddie Cook and Jim Cook; and a nephew,
Marc Moore, also preceded her in death. She was a former employee of
Prestera Mental Health and was a member of First Church of the Nazarene,
where she taught Sunday School, led the music for Junior church for years,
sang in the choir until she was not able, and served on various boards. She
loves her church family and they became her Family. She has been preparing
for this journey for most of her life and now she leaves behind three
daughters and a son-in-law, Carol Moore Wells and Steven Wells of
Chesapeake, OH, Cheryl Moore Vance and Danette Moore Walker, both of
Huntington; beloved grandchildren, Jordan Arnol (Helene) Vance of Lynchburg,
VA and Jarrah A. Vance of Huntington; and her sweet great granddaughter,
Jaidyce A. Vance of Huntington who visited her every week at Heartland
Nursing Home for the past 5 years and we are so thankful for the care they
have shown her. Also her. sister, Margie Cook Ferrer of Florida; and two
brothers and sisters-in-law, Rev. Robert (Karen) Cook and Pat (Tony) Cook,
all of Florida. She also leaves behind many friends and family members who
will miss her and were very special. Colleen Hill, Jacki Humphreys, John
Hill and Sherri Moore Spencer and Terri Moore Imani and honestly so many
special church friends to mention them all but her good friend Nellie
Templeton and her family and the Dallas Moore family and Sherry Moore
Hamilton who visited her regularly and was so faithful and we know stood in
for Stella Henson. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, August
25, 2013, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, and after noon Monday at the
church.
