Henry Eckhart
(November 22, 1923 -
March 30, 2014)
Henry Eckhart of Huntington passed
peacefully on March 30, 2014 at Hospice House. He was born in Athalia Ohio
on 11/22/23. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in the Pacific
theater during WWII. He was a retired machinist at the C&O Railroad. He was
a lifelong Democrat and a proud union member. He attended Marshall College
and continued to educate himself throughout his life by reading many
historical and biographical books. He was a gifted gardener, an able
carpenter, a sports enthusiast and an avant-garde painter. He was a
dedicated and ever present father who loved his children dearly and who was
and will always remain a constant and inspirational figure in their lives.
He will be welcomed to heaven by his son, Daniel Benjamin. He will be
greatly missed by his loving wife of 62 years, Nita (Margarita), by his
children and their spouses – Sally and Ben Feliciano, Mary and Brian Foard,
Therese and Frank Kirby, John and Darla Eckhart, Eric Eckhart and spouse
Kusi Okamura, Joseph Eckhart, Cecilia Eckhart and Stephen Eckhart – and by
his 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will
be conducted 2:00 PM Thursday, April 3, 2014, at Chapman's Mortuary,
Huntington, with Father Charles McGinnis officiating. Burial will be in
Miller Cemetery, Miller, OH. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 PM
Thursday at Chapman's Mortuary.
