Obituary

PHYLISS JEAN TARPLEY
(March 5, 1939 - February 3, 2017)



PHYLISS JEAN TARPLEY, 77, of Huntington, passed away Friday, February 3, 2017, at her residence. Graveside funeral service will be conducted at noon Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, with Pastor Robert Hale officiating. Burial will follow. Phyllis was born March 5, 1939, in Putnam County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Thelmar and Sylvia Green Hager. She was a hair stylist for many years, owned her own salon and was the loving caregiver of her late son. She was also preceded in death by her husband Edward Tarpley, one daughter, Glenda Jean Tarpley, one son, Jonathan Tarpley, one sister, Karen Davis, and three brothers, Glenn, David Michael and Randy Clay Hager. Survivors include two granddaughters, Camille Thomas and Kanika Bishop, both of Evansville, Ind.; one grandson, Teotis Thomas of Newburgh, Ind.; sister-in-law and caregiver Bellena Hager and sister-in-law Carla Hager, both of Huntington; a host of great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, and her pet and loving companion, Diva Lee. Phyliss will be missed and always remembered by her soft voice, beautiful smile and loving heart. If you knew Phyliss you knew a good woman. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday February 7, 2017, at Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington.
