Obituary



Curtis Wayne Harrison, Sr., 70, of Barboursville, WV, passed away Friday, January 13, 2017 at home. He was born October 5, 1946, in Martinsburg, WV. He was the son of the late William Francis Harrison and Frances Jeanette Long Harrison. Two brothers, William Douglas Harrison, Sr. and Darren Lee Harrison also preceded him in death. Mr. Harrison was a Vietnam Veteran serving in the U.S. Army. He received the following Decorations: Expert Badge Rifle M14, National Defense Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Citation, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Two Overseas Medals. He retired as a manager from Frontier Telephone Company, Ranson, WV after 22 years. Mr. Harrison served as a volunteer firefighter with the Citizens Fire Company of Charles Town, WV for many years. He enjoyed music, woodworking and photography. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn Brown Harrison, at home; son, Dr. Curtis W. Harrison, Jr. and wife Lisa of Ona, WV; daughter, Christina D. Heath and husband Elbie, of Charles Town, WV; grandchildren, Ashby D. Heath and Maxwell Curtis Harrison; brother, Dennis R. Harrison, Inwood, WV. The Harrison family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to all of the nurses and staff at The Village of Riverview in Barboursville for their excellent care during his stay. They also wish to thank Hospice of Huntington. A memorial service will be held at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Ranson, WV on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11.00 a.m. with Chaplain Christina Brooks-Signo officiating. Music will be provided by William Douglas Harrison, Jr., with the chosen selection being "Someone to Watch Over Me."
