Obituary

Nancy Lee Jones McDaniel, 81, of Fort Collins, CO, previously of Hendersonville, NC, Jacksonville, FL, Baltimore MD, and Huntington, WV, went to be with her heavenly Father on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Colorado. Nancy was born in Huntington, WV on November 10, 1935 to the late Halsey Albert and Mary Alma (Lilly) Jones, of Huntington. She was a 1954 graduate of Huntington East High School in Huntington, WV, and graduated from Marshall University in 1956. Nancy worked for the CandO Railway, Chessie System Railroads, and CSX Transportation in Huntington, Baltimore, and Jacksonville for forty-two years. An avid singer and musician, she enjoyed playing classical piano, particularly Chopin and Bach, and loved to sing and promote barbershop harmony with numerous quartets and choruses, including the perennial contender "Dundalk Chapter Sweet Adelines" under the direction of the late Fred King. Later, she also loved to sing with the "Pride of Baltimore", "Jax Harmonies" and "The Blend". A loving mother, she enjoyed her time around her home with her children, as well as reading, crossword puzzles and anything with words. She liked to decorate her home and garden, and enjoyed trips to local Baltimore garden centers and points of interest. She attended the Church of Christ, Palms Presbyterian, and Faith Evangelical Churches. She leaves behind a brother, Donald Jones of Naples, FL, brothers-in-law Stephen Mullens of Jacksonville, FL and Mark Mullens of Huntington, a son and daughter-in-law Todd and Kelly Mullens of Morgantown, WV, and a daughter Lesley Mullens of Fort Collins, CO, and two granddaughters Megan Mullens of Orlando, FL, and Shannon Mullens of Morgantown, WV. She is also survived by two grandsons, Adam D'Antonio and Joseph D'Antonio of Fort Collins, CO. Nancy was proceeded in death by her late husband Richard A. McDaniel of Huntington, and former spouse Gary D. Mullens, also of Huntington. Funeral services for Nancy McDaniel will be 3:00 pm Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Woodmere Memorial Park, Abbey of Remembrance, Huntington, with Rev. Eric Porterfield officiating. Burial will follow shortly thereafter. Visitation will be from 2:30 to 3:00 pm Saturday at the Abbey of Remembrance. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, is assisting the family.
