Obituary



William Cleere Sturkey, Jr., 68, of Huntington, husband of Renae Carolyn Dillon Sturkey, died Monday, July 22, 2019 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born June 16, 1951 in Petersburg, VA., a son of Viola Catherine Brown Sturkey of Charlotte, NC., and the late William Cleere Sturkey, Sr. A brother, Richard Franklin Sturkey, and a brother-in-law, Mark Stacks, also preceded him in death. He was a retired sales manager for S and D Coffee of Concord, NC. William enjoyed fishing in the ocean, loved his computer and surfing the internet, and enjoyed walks in the park when he was able. In addition to his wife and mother, survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Michael Davis of Asheville, NC; a granddaughter, Madison Davis of Asheville; his sister, Cindy Stacks of Mt. Holly, NC; and nieces and nephews, Crystal Sturkey, Tracy Drake, Jr., Christopher Drake, and Michael Scarboro. Per his wishes he will be cremated and there will be no services. Donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
