ObituaryBilly Leroy Shafer, Sr., 81, of Huntington, widower of Dorothy Jane Shafer, died Saturday, October 30, 2021 at his residence. Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at the White Chapel Mausoleum, White Chapel Memorial Gardens. Entombment will follow in the White Chapel Mausoleum. He was born September 25, 1940 in Lesage, WV a son of the late William Ernest and Ruby Ann Floyd Shafer. He had also lost two sons, Billy Allen Shafer and Johnny Shafer; a grandson, Josh Shafer; and three brothers, Chance Shafer, Lloyd Shafer, and Floyd Shafer. He retired from the Cabell County Board of Education, and had worked for Dr. Pepper, where he received several gifts for his outstanding work. Billy loved to hunt with his family, loved watching football, NASCAR, and wrestling, and loved his puppy, "Bob". Survivors include his five daughters and spouses, Martena Cremeans (Donald) of Huntington, Glenda Shafer (Joel Black) of Huntington, Ireta Shafer (Joe Ackison) of Pedro, OH, Pauletta Lewis (Kim Nathan) of Huntington, and Candace Kansala (Jonathan) of Huntington; a son and daughter-in-law, Billy L. Shafer, Jr., and Michelle Shafer of Huntington; sister, Ernestine Blake of Barboursville; brother, Jimmie Dale Shafer of Huntington; grandchildren, Meia McComas, Joey (Kista) Black, Dorothy Black, David (Tina) Shafer, Cody Shafer, Tielar Cremeans, Miley McCormick, Brentley McCormick, Mason McCormick, and his baby granddaughter, Kimmy Lewis; great grandchildren, Claudia Black, Emaleigh Black, Shelby Black, Liam McComas, Keagan McComas, Kasey McComas, Piper McComas, and Bryce McComas; and two special friends, John Stidham and Carolyn Williamson. The family will have a private time with him before services.
