Obituary
Willie Overton Tate Jr.
Mr. Willie Overton Tate Jr, 69 of Huntington passed
away May 19, 2007 at the Hospice House in Huntington. He was born April
18, 1938 the son of the late Willie Tate Sr. and Bessie Sheppard. He
retired from Appalachian power company and Mack and Daves. He was a
graduate of Douglass High School where he graduated with a letter in
football. He completed with a scholarship in football and had 21 offers
from various colleges around the region. Mr. Tate was also a graduate of
Devry University where he specialized in Television and Radio Servicing in
Chicago Illinois. He was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in
Huntington and was involved in the mens club. Survivors include his wife
Zelda M. Tate of Huntington, four dauthters; Darlene Robinson of Manassas,
VA, Bessie Tate of Huntington, Marcy Wright of Manassas, VA, and Heather
Tate of Huntington. Four grandchildren; Erica Robinson, Patrick Robinson,
Joshua Wright, and Jiabrian Wright all of Manassas, VA., two Sons in law,
Greg Robinson and Wayne Wright of Manassas, VA. Two sisters, Clauding Tate
of Columbus, OH. and Elane Westmoreland of Huntington. Two uncles, Emmett
C. Tate of Huntington, and Fred Ratcliff of Roanoke, VA. Two aunts Doris
Allen of Harrisonburg, PA and Mary Ali of Toledo, OH. Five sisters in law;
Joyce Robinson, Odesta Williams, Loretta Williams, Joyce Williams and Rosa
Williams. Nine brothers; Donald Williams, Leonard Williams, Edward
Williams, Loard Williams, Danny Williams, Loyboyd Williams, James
Williams, Ronald Williams, Jerome Williams and Willie Washington. Jr., and
a special friend Donald Simms. A host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends also survive. Funeral Services will be conducted 11:00am Saturday
at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Burial will follow in the Spring Hill
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00am until service time at the
church. The arrangements and services of Mr. Tate are entrusted to
Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home, Huntington.
