Coburn John "CJ" Carter
(January 31, 1926 - March 1, 2012)

Coburn John "CJ" Carter 86 of Huntington passed away at his home on March 1, 2012. He was born January 31, 1926 in Harvey, WV. Mr. Carter graduated from Douglas High School and retired from CSX. He attended Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents William and Martha Carter. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his beloved wife of 43 years Betty Carter, a stepson Charles Hughes Sr., one sister Beatrice Nellons, one brother William (Gladys) Carter, II, a sister and brother in law Anna and Rev. David Witherspoon. A host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, family and friends. Mr. Carter has two special friends Harold Hill and Beth Baker, his caregiver who was by his side throughout the duration of his illness. A special thank you to Hospice, the doctors, nurses, social workers and caregivers. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2012 at 1:00P.M. at Full Gospel Assembly with Bishop Samuel R. Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Garden, Huntington. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
