Roy Jimmy Griffey
(July 18, 1955 - December 12, 2016)

Roy Jimmy Griffey, 61, of Mouthcard, KY died December 12, 2016 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY.  He was born July 18, 1955 in Grundy, VA; a son of the late Hurshell Hughes Griffey, Sr. and Audrey May Estep Griffey. Roy had worked as been employed as a coal miner for Fools Gold Energy. He had also been a member of the Elkins Branch Pentecostal Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Survivors include his wife, Barbara K. Griffey; one son, Roy Jimmy Griffey II (Staci) of Grundy, VA; one daughter, Becky Kay Griffey and her fiancé, Roland Benton of Ashland, Kentucky; 3 brothers, Pim Griffey (Peggy), Donald Griffey (Teresa) and Bobby Griffey all of Hurley, VA.; 2 sisters, Barbara Hubbard of Richlands, VA, Tonya Matney (Holbert) of Hurley, VA and 5 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Virginia Funeral Home in Grundy, VA.  Burial will follow in Mt. Valley Memorial Gardens in Big Rock, VA.  Visitation will be Wednesday, December 14, 2016 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm at the Virginia Funeral Home  with a service starting at 7:00pm.  Ferrell-Chambers Funeral Home in Huntington is assisting the family with local arrangements.
