LaToyia Reneé
Smith-Holmes
(August 31, 1979 - February 5, 2021)
LaToyia Renee’ Smith-Holmes
41, a loving Mother, Daughter and Aunt of Huntington, WV,
transitioned from this life to her Heavenly home on February 5, 2021. She
was born August 31, 1979 to Linda and Larry Smith of Huntington.
Sissy received her formal education in the Cabell County
Public School system. After graduating from Huntington High School in 1998,
she worked for a while as a receptionist at Valley Health with Dr. Booth and
at University Pediatrics. She later switched to early childhood education at
the Southwestern Community Childcare. Her passion continued to grow as she
took on a new role as a preschool teacher at Ebenezer Community Outreach.
She took great pride in her challenge of preparing young children for entry
into kindergarten.
LaToyia was selected by KISRA as the recipient of the
Overcomer Family of the Year Award in 2012. She was the catalyst for the
Walk A Mile With LaToyia—an annual charitable event sponsored by her family
to help raise awareness for Brain Aneurysms.
She leaves to cherish her life and memories, her children
Tyrin Smith-Holmes, Tiana Holmes; her sister LaKisha “Pooh” (Kyle)
Sheffield, niece LaKiah “Kiki” Smith, great niece Nylah Smith-Courts,
nephews Kyle and Kendall Sheffield, Special cousins Jyonne (Eric) Brantley,
Andrea Wilson and a host of family, friends, aunts and uncles who loved her
very much. Special thanks to Paula Rainey, Jackie (David) Broadnax, Henry
