Obituary

JAMES RILEY CARTER, 87, of Milton, W.Va., loving father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2004, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, after suffering injuries from a car crash. "Jim" was born November 14, 1916, in Milton, the son of the late Rev. Walter Carl Carter and Lillie Dale Dingess Carter. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cora Ruth Kirtley Carter; brothers, John, Charles, Sanford, Ford, Broddus, Walter and Tennis; and sister, Anna Ruth. He was a lifelong resident of Cabell County and attended Zoar Baptist Church. He is survived by his children, Riley and Tammy Carter, Regina Gail and Randy Fetty, and Jeff and Lola Carter of Milton; grandchildren, Katherine Carter, Reuben, Renita, Rene and Rebekah Fetty, and Amanda, Kayla and Tessa Carter, and one great-grandchild, Dominic, all of Milton. Surviving siblings include sisters Delcie, Phyllis, Vivian, Grace, Gloria and Betty, and brothers Ross, Bruce, Paul and Michael; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, at the Heck Funeral Home with funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 11. Burial will be at Forest Memorial Park at Milton.
